What a wallet is for, and what works without one
Scouty opens on a sign-in screen with three ways in: an injected wallet, a mobile wallet over WalletConnect, or Continue as guest.
Guest is a real option, not a trial: the free tier answers the same way either way, counted against your browser rather than an address. A wallet is what a Pro pass attaches to.
What a wallet is for
The pass is paid by burning $SCOUTY from your own wallet, and it is held by the address that paid. A guest has no address to hold it.
Linking your X account to your wallet is what carries the pass over to @AskScoutyAI. The link starts from the wallet side.
Those two are the whole list. The ten Pro questions are reachable only through a pass, and a pass needs an address to sit on — but there is no held-token gate, nothing that checks your balance to decide what you may ask, and no reading of your holdings unless you ask Scouty to analyse an address.
Signing in
Sign-in is Sign-In with Ethereum: your wallet signs a short message the server wrote, and the signature becomes a session. The message says what it is —
Sign in to Scouty. This costs nothing and sends no transaction.
— and that is literally true. No transaction is broadcast, no gas is spent, and no allowance is granted. If your wallet shows anything other than a signature request at this step, stop.
Externally-owned accounts only. A smart-contract wallet signs under EIP-1271, which this sign-in cannot verify yet.
Which wallets
- Injected — MetaMask, Rabby, or any EVM extension, including the in-app browser inside a wallet app.
- WalletConnect — for mobile wallets that connect by deep link instead of an extension: Rainbow, Trust, Zerion, MetaMask mobile.
The network
Robinhood Chain, chain id 4663 (0x1237). You only need to be on it to pay for a pass; asking questions works from any network.
When your wallet is on a different chain, the pay button is not shown at all — a Switch network button takes its place. That is deliberate: a token transfer sent on the wrong chain is money gone, not an error message.
Signing out
Sign out from the wallet menu. The session cookie is dropped; an active pass stays attached to the address and comes back when you sign in again.
Scouty never holds your keys and never asks for a seed phrase. Buying a pass is one ordinary token transfer that you approve in your own wallet — nothing is ever pulled from it, and no spending approval is requested.
Troubleshooting
No wallet found
The browser has no injected wallet. Install one, or use Continue with WalletConnect and scan from your phone.
The pay button isn't there
Your wallet is on another network. Use the switch button in its place; the pay button returns once you are on chain 4663.
WalletConnect isn't offered
That option appears only where the deployment is configured for it. Use an injected wallet, or open the site inside your wallet app's browser.
I lost my Pro after switching browsers
A pass belongs to the wallet address, not the browser. Sign in with the same address and it is there. Free queries are the opposite — they follow the browser, so a new one starts the day over.
